Ingredients

2 Whole cinnamon sticks

4 liters of Water

200 grams of Piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar)

6 Guava pieces

2 Yellow apple pieces

20 Tejocote pieces

2 Slices of cane sugar

½ cup of Hibiscus flower

1 cup of Prunes

¾ cup of Rum

5 Tamarind pod pieces

Preparation

Step 1 : To prepare this delicious drink, first cut the guavas into quarters and the apples into wedges, then halve them, making sure to remove the seeds.

Step 2 : Next, peel the cane sugar and cut into thin pieces of 10 or 15 cm, as well as peel the tamarind pods and remove the seeds to keep only the pulp.

Step 3 : In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the tejocotes and cinnamon, allowing it to boil for five minutes once it starts to boil.

Step 4 : Then, add the guavas, apples, cane sugar, prunes, raisins, tamarind, hibiscus flowers, and piloncillo.

Step 5 : Let it simmer over low heat for at least 30 minutes.

Step 6 : Finally, add the rum and serve the hot drink in clay cups to enjoy an authentic culinary experience full of exquisite flavors.
