Hamantaschen
Ingredients
1 ¼ cup of Flour
½ cup of Powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon of Salt
7 tablespoons of Butter
1 Egg yolk
1 teaspoon of Vanilla extract
½ teaspoon of Baking powder
2 tablespoons of Milk
Date paste
Powdered sugar
Preparation
Step 1 : In a large bowl or food processor, mix the flour, powdered sugar, salt, and baking powder until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 2 : Next, add the butter cubes and mix carefully until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Step 3 : Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and a tablespoon of milk; work the mixture until a soft dough forms.
Step 4 : If the dough is too dry, you can add another tablespoon of milk to make it easier to handle.
Step 5 : Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Step 6 : Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
Step 7 : Once the dough has rested, remove it from the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured surface to about half a centimeter thickness.
Step 8 : Use a circular cutter to cut out 6 to 8 centimeter diameter circles.
Step 9 : Place a small portion of date paste in the center of each circle, then fold and seal to form triangles, pressing gently on the edges to prevent the filling from escaping during baking.
Step 10 : Repeat this process for all the dough, using scraps to form new circles.
Step 11 : Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
Step 12 : Bake for approximately 12 to 16 minutes, or until they turn a light golden color.
Step 13 : After removing from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes and decorate with powdered sugar for an elegant and sweet touch.
Step 14 : These cookies, known as Hamantaschen, are served still warm and sweet, perfect for any celebration.
Step 15 : They are ideal for sharing during Purim, offering a homemade flavor that keeps tradition and love alive in every bite.
