1 ½ cup of Sugar

1 ½ cup of Water

Preparation

Step 1 : To begin, cook the sugar, water, and lemon juice in a pot for about 15 minutes to prepare a syrup.

Step 2 : Once ready, remove from heat and let it cool.

Step 3 : In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the orange juice and zest, vanilla, and oil until well combined.

Step 4 : In another bowl, mix the flour, semolina, ground walnuts, and baking powder.

Step 5 : Then, add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring well until a uniform dough forms.

Step 6 : Next, pour this dough into a previously greased glass baking dish.

Step 7 : Using a utensil, smooth the surface and draw diamond-shaped lines.

Step 8 : Place an almond in the center of each diamond as decoration.

Step 9 : Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (355°F) for about 25 minutes, or until the surface is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Step 10 : When removing the cake from the oven, slowly pour the warm syrup over the hot surface, allowing it to soak in well and become juicy.

Step 11 : Finally, let it rest for about an hour before serving, so that all the flavors meld and the cake reaches the perfect texture.
